May 30, 2016                    Staging 9AM, Parade 10 AM

Celebrating more than 60 years, the Wauconda Memorial Day Parade travels along Main Street where families line the street hours before the parade begins. The parade ends at Memorial Park where there is an American Legion ceremony honoring the veterans.

The 2015 parade Grand Marshall and keynote speaker for the American Legion ceremony was General Zerbonia, Land Forces Component Commander for the Army Guard. Brigadier General Zerbonia received the appointment as the Land Forces Component Commander for the Illinois Army National Guard on June 3, 2013. His previous assignment was as the commander of the Bilateral Embedded Staff Team A10 and as the deputy brigade commander for the Polish 12th Mechanized Brigade in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. General Zerbonia has more than 30 years of military service.

We are planning a flyover of vintage World War II planes – three T-6 Texans.

Wauconda's Sweetheart and one of Nashville's rising "it" girls, Ari Castronovo, will be joining us this year at the 2016 Wauconda Memorial Day Parade singing our National Anthem. An avid supporter of Veteran and Active Duty military groups, she looks forward to being a part of honoring those who gave their lives, and celebrating our freedom.
